What Does “Retrofit” Mean? Retrofitting simply means adding a component to your home that wasn’t originally there when the home was initially built. That could include installing shutters, reinforcing pillars, adding a solar attic fan or upgrading your insulation!

Each project takes some sort of construction to accomplish, but the end result typically involves some level of increased energy-efficiency or protection for your home.

Retrofitting Insulation Behind Walls

If your home is completely finished and your drywall is in, you can still add insulation to individual rooms without having to completely tear down your walls and start over. We can use blown-in insulation and a process called “drill and fill” to add the necessary insulation into your wall cavities.

We will use our specialized equipment to drill small holes into your walls, and then we will blow insulation material through tubes in between your wall studs and drywall.

When the wall is filled, we will patch the hole and apply a fresh coat of paint! You would never know that there were holes in your wall when we are done. The difference that you will notice, however, is the increased comfort in that room and the lowered energy bills you will enjoy.

Retrofitting Floors or Ceilings

Depending on the type of insulation, we can remove any old or worn-out insulation before installing new material in these spaces. Attic floors and ceilings are often left exposed, so many of our insulation materials will work in these spaces.

Insulation removal gives us a fresh space to work with! We can roll out new batt insulation or blow blown-in insulation onto your floor or apply spray foam directly on the part of your home that needs the insulation boost.
