Causes of Poor Insulation
Even if you take terrific care of your home, you'll likely face insulation problems at some point. Most insulation causes are unavoidable. However, if you notice a problem, it's important to act quickly to stop it from worsening. Here are the reasons why poor insulation occurs.
- Age: Over time, insulation fibers start to deteriorate. If you live in an older property or it's been some time since you last replaced the insulation, you may need to refresh it.
- Electrical Stresses: A sudden electrical storm or overvoltage can damage the structural integrity of the insulation.
- Outside Contaminants: Moisture, pests, and dirt can enter insulation through tiny cracks and crevices of your home, reducing its efficiency.
Services Offered
Koala Insulation provides comprehensive insulation solutions for Northern Colorado homeowners.
- Blown-In Insulation: Made from pieces of cellulose, fiberglass, denim, or mineral wool, Blown-In Insulation fills all the nooks and crannies of attic, wall, and ceiling cavities.
- Batt Insulation: One of the most commonly recognized types of insulation, Batt Insulation comes in pre-cut sheets or rolls of fiberglass, organic cotton, or mineral wool. We fit it between studs of attics, walls, and floors.
- Spray Foam Insulation: This insulation hardens against walls, providing a long-lasting barrier that promotes energy efficiency. It may also support natural building shifts and reduce noise between rooms.
- Solar Attic Fans: A Solar Attic Fan improves air circulation and attic insulation efficiency. Since it runs on solar energy, it doesn't increase monthly energy bills.
- Insulation Removal: Our team can remove insulation damaged by age, pests, or electrical stresses. After removal, we clean and deodorize the space.
- Air Sealing: We use high-quality air sealant to fill crevices of window frames, doorways, attic hatches, wiring holes, and other areas. Once sealed, air drafts won't enter your home.
- Crawl Space Services: Your home's crawl space may contain leaky areas that allow air and contaminants to enter. We'll inspect the area for leaks and install crawl space insulation.
- Builder Services: We partner with local Northern Colorado builders on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Working with Justin, Josh and the install crew was fantastic start to finish on my attic insulation. They were able to work with me on scheduling, assisted with Atmos rebate options and the crew was prompt, courteous and cleaned everything up! Don't hesitate, just call Koala, they'll take care of you.

We used Koala to update our attic insulation. Josh and his team were very helpful, kind and professional. Reasonably priced and able to complete our project in a timely and efficient manner. I couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend Koala for any insulation related needs.

This review is long overdue, and I find it oddly suspicious that this company has a perfect 5 star rating with 223 reviews. These guys came through and did insulation work on my house several months back. Honestly they did a decent job overall and the guy in charge was pleasant and I wanted to like this company, but they left a couple bathroom vent pipes in the attic uninsulated (one of them detached from the roof) and they had to come back and redo it. There were a couple other issues too, but that’s not even the part that upset me the most…it’s the fact they used a few of my tools without asking me. How do I know? There was drywall dust on them. Look I’m a nice guy most of the time, but the moment you use my tools without asking, you’re done. Absolutely unacceptable. Trust these guys at your own risk. Lock your stuff up.

Thank you Koala for rebuilding our attic back to working conditions. Great work, removing the old insulation, fixing up what needed repair, blowing in new modern 'better insulating' materials, All in one day!! Impressive. Very organized flow, protected grounds, and clean work guys. Friendly crew. Good job!!

I was extremely satisfied with the entire process from start to finish. Starting with Justin who explained.every detail of there scope of work. Justin climbed into the attic above entire house and garage and provided me with everything that was good and what was needed. I decided on what was my priority. Justin then broke down each area of work, priced them out separately. His team showed up ready to work, they did a fantastic job. The thing that impressed me the most is they made sure all areas were cleaned to my satisfaction. If you need any insulation work I highly recommend this team.

We have been so pleased that we chose Koala to remove the old insulation and install new R50 cellulose in our 1988 built home. The consistent temperature throughout our house is such an improvement I don't have to find my house slippers in the morning anymore and can't wait to see how much we'll be saving on our gas bills. From Josh answering all our many questions to Uzeil and the crew that worked in very snowy weather to complete the project, we appreciate the great service provided. Even the owner followed up to make sure we were happy with the job. Nowadays it seems harder to find companies that are so proficient in all phases of a job and for that first-class customer service we highly recommend NoCo Koala.

I had a great experience working with Josh and the crew at Koala Insulation. They were professional, knowledgeable, fast, and genuinely fun to work with.
I had a very urgent sound issue at my small business, and they stepped in quickly to help me find a solution.
As a small business owner, responsiveness and quality matter and they absolutely delivered. I would highly recommend Josh and his team to anyone needing insulation work done right.

We had a fantastic experience with Koala Insulation. They are an Atmos Gas-approved contractor, which made it easy to secure a $1,000 weatherization rebate. This was a huge help in stretching my elderly parents' budget. The home was built in 2005 and only had an insulation rating of R-12; after their service, it’s now at R-50. The process was smooth, professional, and highly effective. I highly recommend them

Koala Insulation did a fantastic job upgrading the insulation in our attic and other parts of the house. They identified key areas for improvement, and the project plan earned praise from our home energy advisor. When it was discovered on the day the work was to take place that an issue with construction of our house prevented the project from happening as originally planned (and bid), Koala worked to troubleshoot the issue and provided us with a compromise solution that was fairly priced and still allowed for maximum insulation benefit under the circumstances. The Koala team who did the work were friendly, professional, and great to have around. They finished the job quickly and cleaned up completely afterward. We’re looking forward to greater comfort and energy savings this winter!

These guys were fantastic. I knew the insulation in my attic was low (around 6–10 inches), so they came out, assessed the situation, and provided a quick, clear estimate. I considered doing it myself, but for just a bit more money (and a lot less time and hassle) it made so much more sense to have them handle it. I'm glad I did. The upstairs temperature has dropped by about 5°+ on 90° days, and now it's roughly the same as downstairs which is huge for my A/C unit and electric bill.

My experience with Koala of NoCo was absolutely great. Very professional, kept to their schedule, and more importantly to MY schedule which was constantly, unfortunately, affecting theirs! My job was a 2600sf out-building with spray-foam walls and blow-in ceiling insulation. They did a fantastic job. Justin was super-helpful with explaining the process and went into detail when I asked questions about it. I'm an engineer and so details are my thing. He was awesome, same with the entire crew And, just for reference, right now on July 4 2025, my house has no A/C due to a failed blower motor in my HVAC system. Today, my house was 78 degrees at 2pm with outside temp being 89. In the out-building, the thermostat showed 77. So, yeah, their work is for real. I would highly recommend them for any insulation work.

Justin and his team did a great job! They gave me an estimate within minutes and had the project scheduled to be completed a few days later. Our AC still needs some work but our home is already significantly cooler! My family and I thank you for the hard work and prompt service.

100% professional and top quality! I’m terrible with names but one of the crews name was Jason and the other was Sergio, I think. my apologies in advance for forgetting. Those guys were amazing! Super professional, answered all my questions and were incredibly respectful of our home and their impact on it. Top notch and they left everything better than how they found it. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks guys!

We had a great experience with Justin and the Koala staff. They offered a competitive quote, communicated clearly throughout the process, showed up when they said they would, did the job effectively with friendly staff and cleaned up after themselves. What more could you want from a subcontractor? Happy to recommend.

Josh showed up on time to give me an estimate and took the time to explain to me what could be done to better insulate my home without upselling me or pressuring me into buying more than I what I felt comfortable spending. Some of our bedrooms are very cold in the winter and in the summer the house is hot and the AC runs almost all day every day. We knew that wasn’t right so decided we should have someone check our insulation. Our home was built in 2002 so codes have changed AND Colorado has gotten hotter.
The actual team arrived promptly at 9am on the scheduled date and immediately got to work. They air sealed and added insulation within 3 hours in my large attic, bringing it up to code. They were professional and polite, laid down plastic and drop cloths around the attic access, and cleaned up everything and vacuumed before they left. My toddlers were very curious and the team were friendly and accommodating to them, too!
I got 4 different bids for this job and I’m happy I decided on Koala. I felt the value was fair and I’m so excited to have a better insulated home for this upcoming summer!
My husband and I are both Veterans so we also appreciated the veterans/military discount on the services too. I already recommended them to our neighbor with the same house build.

The crew that came worked very diligently and efficiently. Although it's hard to gauge what's going on up in the attic, from popping my head through the hole, it looks like they did everything they said they would. It was very easy to work with koala insulation, so I would recommend them.

If you are looking for a knowledgeable vendor, local business owner, fair prices and quality work then Koala Insulation of Northern Colorado should be your choice. At the end of the day what I wanted was a noticeable difference to the interior comfort of the home, we made a significant investment (inspection, foam and blown-in services) and we have noticed the improvement. Your team was responsive, knowledgeable, professional and courteous.

Updating my review because I had Koala out to insulate a shed recently. They did a fantastic job with the spray foam. They left the area surprisingly clean.
Before and after photos for a night a day difference! Had them blow in insulation to bring the attic from R-18ish to R-60. Can't wait to see the difference in bills! Scott and Justin were great to work with, they got me the estimate quickly and then got me scheduled within a few days. Professional, clean and on time! I'll definitely recommend Koala to anyone who needs insulation!

We cannot recommend this company highly enough! Justin and Scott were always exceptionally responsive, even when I texted on a weekend, not anticipating a response until the next business day. The team that came and performed the work was outstanding - professional, efficient, friendly and loved on our dogs. When Scott came to give us a quote, he had said that as soon as they left our house once the work was done (they sealed the attic, removed old insulation, filled with new insulation to code, and installed a solar fan), we'd notice a difference temperature wise. Honestly, I find it unreal, but he wasn't wrong. For example today it is 87 degrees outside, but 70 degrees in our house. We no longer need to use the AC, which is just incredible. Worth every penny - and we felt even before the work was done that the price was fair. Justin goes above and beyond, there is zero doubt about that. While we weren't able to get an XCEL rebate with this company, read the reviews for the other local companies you would receive a rebate with. Knowing this in advance, we made the decision to stick with Koala of NoCo because even without the rebate, there is no doubt in my mind we made out ahead. I would give them 20 stars if I could. If only I could say the same about the local company who installed our five indoor mini-split units prior to this attic job...
