Who Benefits From the High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate? | KI of GR

Everyone deserves to live in a comfortable and efficient home, regardless of their financial status. With certain necessities getting more expensive, it can be hard to prioritize home maintenance projects and energy-efficient upgrades.

What if we told you some current legislation exists that can help you make those upgrades at a drastically reduced price, or potentially for free? Read on to learn more about the High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate and how it can offset the cost of a variety of home upgrades.

What Is the High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate?

We have discussed multiple different aspects of the Inflation Reduction Act so far, and this rebate program is a smaller subset of this overarching act. The High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate was passed to focus on helping the low- to moderate-income families in our community make certain upgrades without having to front the entire cost.

There is a formula to help determine if your household would qualify for these specific rebates. If your total household annual income is less than 150% of the median income for the Grand Rapids area, you will qualify for a variety of energy-efficient renovations and appliances. While there are different rebates out there with different limits, the limit for weatherization projects, like insulation and air sealing services, is $1,600 per year. Depending on your income, the entire project may be covered by the rebates!

What Projects Qualify Under the HEERA?

While this rebate program is taking place all across the country, each state is rolling them out a bit differently and you will need to do a little research to see what is available in our area. One helpful website is the Energy Star Rebate Finder. Enter your zip code and toggle through the different options.

Heat pumps, new electric stoves, breaker boxes and wiring can all qualify, as well as our weatherization services like air sealing, insulation and ventilation.

It can be overwhelming to decide what to do first, and that is where we come in! We can come out to your house and perform a free evaluation to help you determine what upgrade is right for you. If we decide together that insulation or air sealing is the right fit, we can get started on your project right away.
