How is the 'supply-chain' affecting the insulation industry?
Much has been made of late about supply-chain issues plaging so many of our favorite industries. Unfortunately, it would seem that these issues are here to stay for a bit. As with nearly every industry in the country, the insulation world is experiencing some of this play out. Let's get into what's changed for us and what has not, before we wrap up with how this affects the most important person in the room (settle down, Obie, not you) - the customer!
What Has Changed:
In short, material prices have changed the most. The cost for us to procure and produce goods that we then service your homes with has increased. At the moment, his is true of most all construction-related materials. In some cases, prices have increased 20%+ on a quarterly basis. Now, before that causes you too much heartburn before considering an insulation project - we're actively managing our customer-facing prices by way of inventory management so that we can deliver our best-in-class pricing in perpetuity.
Additionally, it's very important to consider other home upgrades versus insulation currently. Insulation is a strong return-on-investment home service for your home - not only should your home be valued higher with proper insulation, but it will actively bring down utility costs on a monthly basis - getting cash back in your pocket. Cash is king, after all, and especially right now! While other projects may be on your list - it's important to consider which ones will save you money after completion.
What has not changed:
Luckily, we're still able to get the majority of products with proper lead time (see inventory management point above). As far as kinks in supply have gone, there has not been major issues for the products that constitute the majority of our business (fiberglass, spray-foam, solar attic fans, fiberglass batts, etc). This means that we will able to service your needs, when we told you that we could.
Unfortunately, given the state of the world currently - many companies will make sales only later backing out on them, blaming the 'supply-chain.' We feel confident in saying that you will not hear us reschedule due to 'supply-chain' anytime soon! Things sometimes do come up, but we won't be using this as an excuse anytime soon.
What this means for our customers:
In sum, not much. You can count on Obie and the team to deliver the same products and services that we always have. Now that we got that out of the way, schedule your in-home evaluation today!
