Rick Had Updated His Flower Mound Home. Now He Wanted the Attic to Match.
The old insulation could have stayed.
Rick wanted it gone.
He had put a lot of work into his Flower Mound home, making improvements and getting things the way he wanted them. But above the ceiling, the attic had never received that same attention.
Ready to start your insulation project?
It still held a mix of old fiberglass and cellulose insulation. Rick didn’t like the way it looked and covering it with another layer wasn’t what he had in mind.
He wanted a fresh start.
When he called Koala Insulation of North Texas, a cleaner attic was his main priority. He wanted the existing material removed, the space cleaned and disinfected, and fresh fiberglass installed in an even layer throughout.
And while everything was out, he wanted us to make the attic work better, too.
That gave us a clear direction.
A Project Built Around What Rick Wanted
This wasn’t a project where we needed to convince Rick that his attic was a disaster.
It wasn’t.
He had a home he took pride in and an improvement he wanted to make. Our job was to understand that goal and explain what it would take to accomplish it.
Together, we settled on the full scope: remove the old insulation, clean and disinfect the attic, air seal the openings, clear the ventilation paths, and install new fiberglass to R-49.
The finished appearance mattered. So did everything that would sit beneath it.
Before Anything New Went In, the Old Material Came Out
Our crew removed all the existing fiberglass and cellulose.
With the attic cleared, we could get to work on the preparation Rick wanted. We cleaned the space, disinfected it throughout, and air sealed the accessible gaps and openings between the attic and the living areas below.
This was the time to address those details—while the old insulation was gone and before new material covered the attic floor.
We also cleaned out the soffit vents and baffles so the ventilation paths were clear. The fresh insulation needed to provide consistent coverage while keeping those paths open.
Step by step, the attic was ready for its new insulation.
A Fresh Start Above the Ceiling
We installed clean blown-in fiberglass to R-49 across the entire attic.
Where there had been a mix of old materials, there was now one fresh, even layer throughout the space.
That was the finish Rick had pictured when he called.
But the project went deeper than its appearance. The air sealing and consistent insulation coverage were designed to help the house hold its temperature more effectively and use energy more efficiently. The cleared soffits and baffles supported the attic’s ventilation.
The work connected what Rick wanted to see with how he wanted his home to perform.
A Home Improvement Doesn’t Have to Start With a Problem
Rick didn’t need to wait for damage or an uncomfortable room to justify improving his attic.
He wanted it cleaner. He wanted the old material gone. He wanted the work done thoroughly, with attention to the parts that would be hidden once we finished.
We built the project around those priorities and delivered the attic he had asked for.
You probably have a list of things you’d like to improve about your home. If the attic is on it, we’re ready to listen.
