This Attic Felt A Whole Lot Better When We Climbed Back Down
It’s funny…
We were at this same house not that long ago doing the insulation removal.
Now we were back to finish the next step.
Ready to start your insulation project?
That’s usually how these projects go.
You don’t just pull old insulation out and call it a day.
You’ve got to put something better back in.
The homeowner came outside while we were unloading and asked if today was “the messy part.”
I laughed a little.
I told him the messy part was actually last time.
Today’s the part where the house starts getting put back together.
He seemed happy to hear that.
Once we got everything ready, we started blowing fresh insulation across the attic.
Nothing fancy.
Just working our way from one end to the other.
I’ve always liked this part of the job better than removal.
You can actually see the attic changing as you go.
The old attic looked tired.
This one started looking like it had another twenty years ahead of it.
One of the guys stopped for a second and pointed toward the attic rulers.
“Need just a little more over there.”
Easy enough.
That’s why those rulers are there.
You don’t guess.
You check.
We added a little more and kept moving.
Somebody’s Bluetooth speaker quit working halfway through the job.
Nobody bothered trying to fix it.
Honestly, after a while all you hear is the insulation machine anyway.
Kind of peaceful in its own strange way.
When we finally shut everything down, I climbed back up one last time.
That’s something I always do before we leave.
Just walk it one more time.
Make sure the coverage looks even.
Look for anything that doesn’t sit right.
Most of the time you don’t find anything.
Every now and then you do.
This one looked good.
The homeowner probably won’t think about that insulation much from here on out.
He’ll probably notice something else instead.
Maybe the air conditioner isn’t running quite as long.
Maybe the bedrooms stay comfortable later in the afternoon.
Maybe summer just feels a little easier inside the house.
That’s usually how people know the job was worth doing.
