We’re Not Just Residential! A New Restaurant in Georgetown
Most of the jobs we share are somebody’s attic or a house that needs new insulation. Not this one.
We got called out to a new restaurant being built in Georgetown, and part of the roof needed insulation.
New construction jobs are always a little different because there are usually a bunch of people working at the same time.
Electricians, HVAC guys, Framers, Us. Everybody has something they need to get done, and everybody would really like everybody else to get out of the way while they do it. Pretty normal construction site.
This one needed two types of insulation For this part of the restaurant, we were doing a combination of spray foam and fiberglass insulation. Sometimes people ask us which insulation is better. Well, it depends.
Ready to start your insulation project?
We install different products because every building isn’t the same and every part of a building isn’t necessarily going to need the same thing. That’s exactly what we had here.
Part of the roof called for spray foam and part called for fiberglass, so that’s what we installed. Nothing too complicated about it. Use the right material where it belongs.
Working above a restaurant that isn’t a restaurant yet. It’s kind of funny walking through a restaurant during construction.
Eventually there will be tables, people eating, servers running around and somebody waiting too long for their appetizer.
Right now? It’s a construction site.
You look up and see framing, ductwork and insulation. That’s about it. We were working overhead getting our portion of the roof taken care of while the rest of the building was coming together around us.
Once everything gets covered, nobody eating dinner there is ever going to think about what we did.
That’s probably a good thing. If people are sitting at a table talking about the insulation above their heads, something has probably gone wrong.
Commercial work is part of what we do too We get known for residential attic insulation because we do plenty of it.
But that’s definitely not all we do. Commercial insulation in Georgetown is part of the job too, whether it’s a restaurant like this one or another type of commercial building.
The equipment might be bigger.
The building might be bigger.
And there are usually more contractors walking around.
The basic idea doesn’t change much. Get in there and do our part right.
This restaurant still had plenty of work ahead of it when we finished our portion. That’s how these projects go. One crew finishes and the next one keeps things moving. Eventually it’ll open and most people will never know we were there.
We’ll know. And we’ll probably end up eating there at some point and looking at the ceiling. That’s what happens when you work in construction.
