Blown-In Attic Insulation & Solar Attic Fan Installation in Sarasota, FL
Joe Loria was tired of how hot his Sarasota home was getting.
And with Florida temperatures being what they are, that’s not something you want to deal with every day.
He called us out to see what we could do.
Ready to start your insulation project?
When our team at Koala Insulation of West Florida looked at the attic, we found two things that needed attention.
There was very little insulation throughout the attic, and the roof had a low pitch that made ventilation especially important.
We recommended taking care of both.
First, the House Needed More Insulation
There wasn’t much insulation up there to begin with.
And when you don’t have enough insulation between your attic and the rooms below, that Florida heat can make things pretty uncomfortable.
Joe was already dealing with a hot house.
So, we installed blown-in fiberglass insulation throughout the attic, bringing the insulation level up to R-38.
That’s a big improvement from what he started with.
The fiberglass helps slow down heat moving from the hot attic into the living space. Which is exactly what you want when your AC is already working hard to keep the house cool.
But we weren’t finished.
That Low-Pitch Roof Needed Better Ventilation
Joe’s roof has a low pitch.
That can make attic ventilation a little more challenging because there isn’t as much vertical space for hot air to rise and move out naturally.
We wanted to help get that hot air moving.
So, we installed a solar attic fan.
The fan uses solar power to help pull hot air out of the attic, provided there’s adequate intake ventilation to replace the air being exhausted.
And in a Sarasota attic, there’s certainly no shortage of heat to deal with.
The insulation and fan have two different jobs.
One helps slow heat transfer into the house.
The other helps move hot air out of the attic.
We wanted both working for Joe.
Joe Had Something Nice to Say About the Experience
After the project, Joe left us a five-star Google review.
It wasn’t a long review, but we really appreciated what he said.
“From initial contact to completed project, I felt heard and valued as a customer.”
That means a lot to our team.
We spend plenty of time talking about insulation levels, ventilation and all the technical stuff that goes into these jobs.
But homeowners also want somebody to listen to what they’re dealing with.
Joe called because his house was hot.
We listened, looked at what was going on and put together a plan to address the insulation and ventilation.
And we’re glad he felt taken care of through the process.
Two Improvements That Made Sense Together
This wasn’t a job where we needed to tear everything apart.
Joe needed more insulation and a way to improve the attic ventilation.
We installed fiberglass to R-38 and added the solar attic fan.
Now the attic has the insulation coverage it was missing, along with mechanical ventilation designed to help exhaust built-up heat.
Both improvements are intended to help the home stay more comfortable during those long Sarasota summers.
If your house seems hotter than it should be, especially when the AC is running, your attic might be worth checking.
