The EPA Estimates that Connecticut home owners can save 12-14% on their annual utility bills through these upgrades.

ENERGIZE CT REBATE PROGRAM > INSULATION

EnergizeCT is a comprehensive program that covers multiple energy efficiency upgrades, from air sealing and insulation to heat pumps and windows.   At Koala Insulation, our focus is on the Insulation and Air Sealing incentives.

Key things to know:

• Standard rebates for Attic Insulation Upgrades start at $2.00 per square foot and could be as high as $2.50 per square foot in certain eligible areas.
• Clients may be eligible for up to $3,000 of Interest Free Financing through Capital 4 Change. And other Green Loans are available at highly competitive interest rates.
• Koala does all the work when it comes to applying for and receiving the rebates, clients pay the NET price.
• Income is not a factor for qualifying for rebates under the Home Energy Solutions program, however there are income eligible plans for those who do qualify.
• Rebates are available for multiple measures such as Air Sealing, Insulation, Ventilation and Attic Openings (such as pull down stairs).
• There are technical details that must be satisfied to ensure qualification – Koala Insulation works with customers to take away the guess work.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN ENERGIZECT UPGRADE

EnergizeCT offers rebates for many different insulation projects, Attics, Basements, Garages, Walls, and more!  That said, most of our projects start in the Attic.  For most homes, the Attic offers the quickest payback and highest ROI.

When it comes to the Attic, EnergizeCT takes a comprehensive approach to the upgrade.  As an EnergizeCT Contractor, we will look at the attic from the perspective of:

• Ventilation: Critical to the health and comfort of the attic.
• Air Sealing: Heat loss through convection is often the major culprit.
• Insulation: Current building code demands R60, however the EnergizeCT retrofit program recognizes that R49 is a very robust level to achieve meaningful savings
• Other Health Factors: Mold and Asbestos are two major concerns when working on a home insulation upgrade. Koala Insulation works with licensed professionals to remediate any situations we discover to ensure a safe outcome for our clients and our crew.

• Is income a factor in determining my eligibility for EnergizeCT Rebates?
  • NO, Under the Home Energy Solutions pathway your income is not relevant, however there is an Income Eligible program for families who do meet certain income eligibility requirements.

• Does Spray Foam Qualify for Rebates?
  • YES, in the correct situation Spray Foam does qualify for rebates, however there are exceptions. The most important exception is in Attic Upgrades, Spray Foam will not qualify if the attic is converted from a Vented to an Unvented Attic. Speak to Koala Insulation to learn more about this.

• Do I have to file the rebate paperwork myself.
  • NO, in most cases Koala Insulation of Southern Connecticut will do that work for you. As always there are exceptions and circumstances where homeowners may need to take responsibility, however we’ll do our utmost to minimize the administrative burden and streamline the process.

• Can I do the insulation work and then apply for the rebate?
  • NO, you must have the HES Assessment completed and an EnergizeCT Rebate application approved before you do any insulation work. Koala Insulation of Southern Connecticut will work with you to get all the logistics in place so that you maximize your benefits and minimize your costs.

• Can I still file for a 25C tax credit if my insulation was installed in 2025?
  • Yes, you should be able to file for a tax credit under 25C in your 2025 return. We’d recommend you work with a tax professional if you haven’t done so already.
