Las Vegas Batt Insulation Solved the Hot and Cold Rooms
This one started with a phone call from a homeowner who sounded more frustrated than anything.
He wasn’t saying the air conditioner wasn’t working. In fact, he’d already had somebody come look at it. Everything checked out.
His problem was that one side of the house always felt different than the other.
He told me, “My wife likes sitting in the living room. I avoid it in the afternoon.”
I kind of laughed and told him we’d come take a look.
Turns out…he wasn’t exaggerating.
It didn’t take long to figure it out
When we got there, we walked through the house for a few minutes before heading up into the attic.
Sometimes you get up there expecting to find one thing, then it ends up being something completely different.
Not this time.
Ready to start your insulation project?
I remember looking across the roofline and thinking, “Well…there it is.”
The batt insulation had seen better days. Some sections had sagged. Other spots had gaps you could see from several feet away. Nothing dramatic, just years of settling and a few places that never really had good coverage to begin with.
One of the guys on the crew looked over at me and just nodded.
Didn’t really need to say much.
I almost blamed the windows.
For a minute I actually wondered if the windows were part of the problem.
The afternoon sun was hitting that side of the house pretty hard.
Then we climbed back into the attic and kept looking around.
Nope.
The insulation was the bigger issue.
Funny enough, I remember hearing somebody mowing their lawn outside while we were working. It’s weird the little things you remember from certain jobs.
It started coming together
Once we got the new batt insulation in place, everything just looked…finished.
No random gaps.
No insulation hanging down where it shouldn’t be.
Just nice, even coverage from one section to the next.
It wasn’t one of those flashy jobs people stop and take pictures of.
But they’re the ones that usually make a homeowner the happiest.
He noticed it before we even left.
We were loading ladders back onto the truck when the homeowner came back inside after checking a couple rooms.
He said, “It already feels more even in here.”
Maybe it was because the house had been closed up most of the morning.
Maybe it was because he finally knew something had actually been fixed.
Either way, he had a smile on his face that he didn’t have when we pulled in.
Those are the jobs I remember.
Not because they’re complicated.
Just because somebody’s finally comfortable in their own house again.
