Blown-In Attic Insulation for a Las Vegas In the Summer Heat

Summer is already here, and around Las Vegas that usually means the attic is the last place anybody wants to spend time.

Unfortunately…that’s where we spend a lot of ours.

The homeowner called because the house had been getting harder to cool. Nothing had broken. The air conditioner was still running. It just never seemed to get ahead once the afternoon heat settled in.

I’ve heard that story a lot.

We didn’t stay up there any longer than we had to.

We climbed into the attic early.

Still hot.

One of the guys looked around for about ten seconds and said, “Yep.”

That pretty much covered it.

The insulation had settled over the years. Nothing unusual. You could tell it had been doing its job for a long time, but it was time for a little help.

This wasn’t one of those jobs where something strange showed up.

No surprises.

I don’t even think about it anymore.

I always take one last look.

Making sure there isn’t a flashlight sitting in the corner…or a pair of gloves…or that one tool somebody swears they brought back down.

It happens.

Not often.

Still worth checking.

The homeowner came outside while we were putting hoses away and asked if the house would feel different.

I told him, “This afternoon will probably tell you more than I can.”

That’s kind of the test in Las Vegas.

When it’s pushing well over 100 degrees outside and the house isn’t fighting the heat quite as much, people usually know pretty quickly the attic is doing its job again.
