Cellulose consists of fibers made from recycled newspaper, cardboard, or wood and is made with or without binders. Cellulose is a very common type of blown-in insulation as it is made from recycled materials and is chemically treated to resist pests, mold, and fire. Boric acid is the primary chemical used to treat Cellulose insulation and is found naturally in seawater, fruits, and plants.
FIBERGLASS
Fiberglass is made from plastic, glass, and other raw materials that are melted and spun into fibers that resemble the texture of wool. Fiberglass insulation has moisture and fire-resistant properties. Because fiberglass is made from sand and glass, it is naturally non-combustible. Fiberglass has significant recycled content with some loose-fill products containing up to 80% recycled glass.

We became acquainted with Koala Insulation through Jennifer at the 2022 St. Charles Home Show last April. From the initial attic inspection to the day of installation, Jennifer was accessible, professional and very knowledgeable, answering all our questions.
Koala installed a solar attic fan and added blown-in insulation.
Mark, Cory and his crew and Jennifer arrived on time, worked efficiently and, the work area was cleaned up at the end of the project.
With hot weather upon us this early in the year, we’re enjoying a cooler attic which will save us money on our A/C bills. And the added insulation should reduce our heating bills, too.

Excellent service. Blown in insulations for two rooms. A big shout out to Jo for arranging it all so quickly, and to Josh and his mate for showing up on time, working quickly and getting the job done and the great clean up afterwards. It was not an easy job but they were pros and got it done. I have hired a lot of people to work on my homes over the years. I want people who show up when they say they will, quote me a fair price and stick with the price, do the work contracted and clean up after themselves. WOW!!! From the free quote, to install, to clean up, these guys are FANTASTIC! In a world full of horror stories on getting work done on your house, these guys are a knight in shining armor. Customer service is very responsive in text, email and phone calls to set up appts etc. We had insulation installed in our finished garage, in the ceiling (there is a bedroom above the garage). I was worried it would be a terrible mess and that it wouldn't work as well as I wanted it to, to regulate temperature. The installers left my garage cleaner than when they came and more importantly that bedroom is now staying within 1-3 degrees of the thermostat (previously a 4-8 degree difference). Highly recommend."
