Fiberglass
Fiberglass batt is the most common type of batt insulation in Saint Charles, Saint Louis and Chesterfield . It is comprised of recycled glass that is melted down and spun into a molten liquid to produce thin fibers. Binders are added to hold the fibers together to create batts, rolls, and loose-fill insulation.
Mineral Wool
Mineral wool is created from natural spun-stone and natural minerals. It is made by spinning molten basalt and/or blast-furnace slag (a waste product of molten metal). Mineral wool insulation is fireproof and has a higher density than fiberglass batts, creating a better sound barrier.
Denim
Denim insulation is made from post-consumer recycled natural fibers, such as denim jeans. Denim insulation is non-toxic and has a Class A fire rating, it is also mold and mildew resistant.
When installed correctly, batt insulation blocks most gaps and creates a moderate seal, reducing the flow of air and the transfer of heat. Batt insulation is manufactured with tiny air pockets inside, which blocks air flow, if packed too tight, compression can occur allowing air transfer, making it less effective. When choosing Batt insulation, R-value matters. Insulation is labeled by R-value. R stands for resistance to heat flow, the greater the R-value, the higher the insulating power. Koala installers have the knowledge and experience to recommend and install the right density and thickness (R-value).
Depending on where you live, different climate zones require different R-values. If you live in a colder climate zone, like the northeast, you’ll will need a higher R-value of insulation, then if you live in a milder climate zone. Typical recommendations for exterior walls are R-13 to R-23, while R-30, R-38 and R-49 are common for ceilings and attic spaces. Proper batt insulation must be installed higher and over your ceiling joists or wall studs, this allow for optimal insulating.

We became acquainted with Koala Insulation through Jennifer at the 2022 St. Charles Home Show last April. From the initial attic inspection to the day of installation, Jennifer was accessible, professional and very knowledgeable, answering all our questions.
Koala installed a solar attic fan and added blown-in insulation.
Mark, Cory and his crew and Jennifer arrived on time, worked efficiently and, the work area was cleaned up at the end of the project.

A big shout out to Jo for arranging it all so quickly, and to Josh and his mate for showing up on time, working quickly and getting the job done and the great clean up afterwards. It was not an easy job but they were pros and got it done. I have hired a lot of people to work on my homes over the years. I want people who show up when they say they will, quote me a fair price and stick with the price, do the work contracted and clean up after themselves. WOW!!! From the free quote, to install, to clean up, these guys are FANTASTIC! In a world full of horror stories on getting work done on your house, these guys are a knight in shining armor. Customer service is very responsive in text, email and phone calls to set up appts etc. We had insulation installed in our finished garage, in the ceiling (there is a bedroom above the garage). I was worried it would be a terrible mess and that it wouldn't work as well as I wanted it to, to regulate temperature. The installers left my garage cleaner than when they came and more importantly that bedroom is now staying within 1-3 degrees of the thermostat (previously a 4-8 degree difference). Highly recommend."
