Why Insulation Removal?

Hidden just above the roof of our living spaces there can be an attic that at first glance upon heading up could be a regular attic. It is hot, dusty, and maybe just uncomfortable in general. It is not visited that much unless your attic is also used for storage. But, sometimes through various situations we might not even know that the insulation in a particular section of the attic is in a state that is either not usable due to mold and other contaminants or is old enough where it is simply like spoiled milk and is past it’s due date. Essentially like my half gallon of milk - it needs to go, and it needs to be fast.

The quality of your insulation is vital for your energy efficiency and needs. If it is not in the quality, it should be or if circumstances have led to it being left in not a good shape - it is time to get it removed. But it may be a bit daunting. How do you completely rid of this insulation? There could be a lot of it and the sight of it could be daunting - it appears various laborious and very uncomfortable.

Now, there are times that your existing insulation in your home is in good shape and removal may not be necessary. At that point we can install new insulation right on top of it.

But, in other cases, though, you may have to remove the old before you bring in the new. That is where we at Koala Insulation can come in.

Here are a few reasons you may need a full removal:

•      Moisture Damage

This could be due to humidity and mold build up or even water leaks due to busted pipes.

•        Pest Contamination

This could be due to rats, squirrels, cockroaches, possums, etc. that have made their way into your attic.

•      Diminishing Efficiency

This could happen due to the age of the material or the 2 points above.

•      Toxic Materials

This could range from mold, pests, or any rodenticide or insecticide used to fend them off, and other chemicals (ASPCA).

Also, we can do a complete re-install of blow in and blanket (batt) insulation as well. We will get your attic back up to an R-38 R-Value (13 inches of Fiberglass/11.5 inches of cellulose) of fresh, new, and clean insulation.
