Benefits of Our Insulation Materials | Koala Insulation of GR
We know a thing or two when it comes to insulation. That’s what makes us a leader in the insulation industry, especially in the Grand Rapids community. We can take one look around a property and offer our expert opinions on what type of insulation should go where.
We understand our different insulation materials and know what works and what doesn’t in each space. Our team explains a bit more below about the intricacies of our insulation materials so you can get a better idea of what we mean.
Blown-In Insulation
Blown-in insulation is the only material that is considered a loose fill. This means that instead of being spun or woven into a structured material, it is left as little pieces.
This is what makes it the perfect choice for those tight corners and angles in attics. The small pieces will get to the very back of your room and will offer complete coverage and improve your home’s efficiency.
Blown-in insulation comes in multiple forms, including fiberglass and cellulose. They are both eco-friendly options, but fiberglass has a bit higher fire rating because it is made out of spun glass. One drawback with blown-in insulation is that while it can withstand minor water issues or moisture, soaked blown-in material should be replaced to reduce the risk of mold or mildew.
Batt Insulation
Batt insulation is the other insulation material that is made out of fiberglass. This insulation features the long pink sheets that most people associate with insulation.
The batts are budget-friendly, highly efficient and the perfect pairing for between walls and under floors. They can offer complete coverage without settling over time.
One consideration with batt insulation is that it can be a bit trickier to navigate around complicated spaces because it comes in pre-cut sheets. While they can be manipulated and cut to size, it can be trickier to get around ductwork, wiring and electrical boxes.
Spray Foam Insulation
Spray foam insulation is one of our most powerful insulation materials. Our trained technicians combine two chemicals inside a mixing chamber in a spray foam gun, that is then sprayed into place. It expands as it reacts, and that is what creates that tight seal that spray foam is known for.
Depending on the type of spray foam you choose, it can offer a complete moisture barrier, be efficient at noise reduction or can even help support the structure of your home. Closed-cell spray foam is the type of insulation material we like to offer customers who are concerned with moisture issues, since it is water-impermeable.
Each of our insulation materials shine in their own way, and we would love to chat with you about your insulation needs. We can help make your home or business much more efficient and comfortable this season.
