Shocking Things Seen in Dallas and Plano Attics, Part 3

The amazement of the Koala Insulation of Dallas crews is growing as we uncover new horrors in Dallas, Plano and Richardson homes. The surprises we encounter are not so much that home systems are in need of repair – we all know that homes age, settle and systems wear out – but that our customers have regularly told us that they recently paid a service technician to perform a service and we find that the customer has been ripped off.

Last week’s winners are in the category of attic insulation and HVAC venting. In one Plano home, our estimator found that an attic ruler, placed by Dallas’ largest and best-known insulation giant, had been cut before being stapled to the rafter. Installers from the Dallas insulation giant had deliberately cut 5 inches off the ruler so that a customer would believe they had received twice as much insulation as they had, in reality, been provided.

This week’s HVAC horror, pictured below, shows the work of a crew who had recently been hired to replace the kitchen stove exhaust ventilation. As you can see, this crew’s workmanship results in kitchen exhaust drifting back into the attic as the service contractor well, came up short, in their installation project.

A word to the wise is to check reviews and have your home service providers explain, in detail, what they have done before agreeing to pay them.
