Started with “we can’t stop sneezing”
We see this a lot once spring hits.
Homeowner in St. Paul said everyone in the house just kept sneezing. Not just outside. Inside too. Windows were closed most of the time, so they were confused. Nothing crazy at first, just annoying enough that they finally called.
First thought wasn’t even insulation.
Honestly, we didn’t go in thinking insulation was the main issue. They mentioned filters, duct cleaning, all that. Said they’d already tried a few things. So, we figured maybe airflow or something mechanical. But once we got up into the attic, it started making more sense.
Attic was basically letting everything in.
You could feel it up there.
Warm air pockets mixed with that dusty, slightly stale smell. Not terrible, just… lingering. Insulation was uneven, thin in areas, and there were gaps where outside air could move in. Kind of like leaving a screen door cracked during pollen season. That was it.
What we ended up doing.
We sealed up the obvious air leaks first.
Then we added proper insulation coverage so outside air and allergens weren’t just drifting in. That part mattered. Took most of the day. Nothing complicated, just doing it the right way across the whole attic.
This reminds me of a place in Woodbury.
Similar situation.
They thought it was just bad luck with allergies. Turned out their attic was pulling in outside air nonstop. Same pattern. That’s usually how it goes.
The part people don’t really think about.
Insulation isn’t just about temperature.
It helps control air movement. And when air moves, it carries stuff with it. Dust, pollen, whatever’s outside. If your attic isn’t sealed and insulated right, that stuff finds its way in. Not all at once. Just slowly, all the time. That adds up.
After everything was done.
They noticed it within a few days.
Not completely gone, but better. Less sneezing. Air felt cleaner. That’s usually the feedback we get. Not perfect, but noticeably different.
