How Much Insulation Does an Older St. Charles or Edwardsville Home Need?

One of the questions we get all the time from homeowners is, “How do I know if I have insulation in my home?”

It is a question especially if you live in an older home in St. Charles, Edwardsville or one of the surrounding communities. Many of these homes were built before todays insulation standards and while they may have insulation in the attic the insulation is often not enough by todays recommendations.

The reality is that most homeowners have no idea how much insulation’s in their attic. And that is completely normal. It is not exactly something people check on a basis.

One of the things I tell homeowners is that if your house is constantly struggling to stay comfortable your insulation may not be giving your heating and cooling system help. Your heating and cooling system ends up doing all the work while conditioned air escapes and outdoor temperatures creep in.
