Spray Foam Insulation in Lebanon, TN

This house had already been through enough.

This one was over in Lebanon, Tennessee, and before we even unloaded the trailer, the homeowner started telling us what had happened.

The original house was gone.

It had been demolished.

Now they were finally getting to the point where it actually looked like a home again instead of a construction site. Framing was finished, the mechanicals were in, and it was our turn.

The homeowner looked around for a second and said, “We’re ready to stop rebuilding and start moving forward.”

I remember that because you could tell they were tired. Not tired from that day. Just tired from the whole process.

I almost asked about the old insulation.

It’s funny how your brain works sometimes.

Walking through the house, I caught myself wondering what the old insulation looked like before I remembered…there wasn’t an old house anymore.

Kind of made me laugh.

This was completely new framing from one end of the house to the other. Fresh lumber. Fresh drywall layout. Everything smelled like new wood, and there were still sawdust piles tucked into a couple corners from the framing crew.

Somebody had left a tape measure sitting on one of the window sills.

Probably knew exactly where it was, too.

This one was all about getting it right the first time.

We installed open cell spray foam throughout the walls and ceiling while everything was still open. That’s honestly one of the nice things about working on a house before drywall goes up. You’re not trying to work around finished surfaces or squeeze into places that are hard to reach later.

One of the guys mentioned how clean the framing looked.

He wasn’t wrong.

Sometimes older homes surprise you with crooked walls or odd framing that keeps you guessing all day. This house didn’t have any of that. Everything lined up the way it was supposed to.

Made for a good day.

The weather wasn’t bad either. Warm enough to remind us it was Tennessee in the summer, but not one of those days where everybody is looking for shade every five minutes.

We had one conversation that comes up a lot.

Before we wrapped up, the homeowner asked whether the project would qualify for a TVA energy incentive.

I wish I could’ve said yes.

It didn’t.

Since this was considered new construction, it wasn’t eligible for the TVA program. We talked through it for a few minutes, and they understood. Doesn’t change the value of the insulation, but it’s something we always like to answer honestly when people ask.

Better to explain it now than have someone surprised later.

Looking ahead instead of looking back.

Standing in that house at the end of the day, it was easy to forget everything that had happened before the rebuild. You could finally picture a family moving furniture in instead of contractors carrying tools around.
