I rarely leave negative reviews, but after this experience I feel it's important to share mine.
I was told and quoted that this project would take approximately a day and a half, rounding to two days, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Unfortunately, that timeline was never close to being met.
Throughout the project, I was repeatedly given specific arrival times and completion expectations that never materialized. I was told crews would arrive at 8:00 AM, then 10:00 PM, then 8:00 AM again, then after 12:00 PM, then again around 10:00 PM. Those times repeatedly came and went without work being performed or meaningful updates explaining what had changed. Instead of receiving proactive communication, I constantly had to reach out myself just to find out if anyone was actually coming.
Because of the uncertainty, I had to repeatedly take time away from my own work to check on the warehouse, only to arrive and find no work being performed and no clear communication regarding when the project would actually continue or be completed. The delays affected other contractors, my business schedule, and my ability to get the facility operational.
The biggest disappointment throughout the entire project was Ryan's communication and project management. Schedules changed repeatedly with little notice, updates were inconsistent, and I never felt like the project was being actively managed. At no point did Ryan come to the site to inspect the project or communicate in a way that gave me confidence everything was under control.
Eventually, a third installation team led by Jonathan (an entirely different company not owned by Koala) became involved. Jonathan was by far the most communicative person I dealt with throughout the project. If I had the name of his company, I would suggest going with his and never choose Koala. He stayed on site to make sure the work was completed and ultimately had to bring in an entirely different crew after the previous team encountered serious safety issues, including an injury that halted progress. Jonathan's professionalism and communication stood in sharp contrast to the overall project management I experienced.
Once the installation was finished, the warehouse still required extensive cleanup before I could resume business operations. Because of the earlier delays, I spent hours cleaning my 3,000-square-foot warehouse in the Houston summer heat without air conditioning so I could get my business operational again after having it halted for an entire week.
While I was physically sweeping insulation, moving equipment, and trying to get the warehouse back into working order, I was repeatedly contacted about immediate payment. I explained multiple times that I was actively cleaning and simply needed time to get back to my computer. There was even confusion over the invoice itself, requiring additional messages before I finally received the correct payment link. Despite everything, I paid the invoice in full as soon as I was able, but will be talking to counsel to look at these services.
The finished spray foam itself appears satisfactory, but good workmanship does not excuse poor communication, missed commitments, or inadequate project management. Nearly every frustration I experienced could have been avoided with honest updates, realistic scheduling, and proactive communication.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Koala Insulation under Ryan's management. If communication, scheduling, and accountability are important to your project, I would strongly encourage you to consider those factors before hiring this company.
