In like a lion out like lamb. . . Changing of Seasons in Fort Worth!

As you know, March comes in like a lion, but goes out like a lamb. The seasons are turning once again. 

While it is still rather cool outside in the Greater Fort Worth area, the retail world knows that spring and summer are looming.  Valentines has given way to Easter.   Baskets and bunnies and chocolate eggs have replaced the long gone heart shaped boxes.   Spring sports gear and picnic supplies are now everywhere you go from North Richland Hills to Bedford and Euless.  These signs of spring and summer mean that warmer weather is around the corner.  Perhaps you are in Grapevine and Southlake or further west in Lake Worth and Saginaw checking out the now stocked spring cleaning and organizing essentials.  All around the area from Haltom City to Justin you can enjoy an early explosion of spring themes, menus, and even a nod to the looming summer with bathing suits, sunscreen, and other pool side items starting to find room on shelves.

We love the signs of spring after the icy storms of this past month.  It’s arrival does make us think about the change of seasons and what this means for us and our neighbors.  As the seasons change it’s time to look around your home and get it ready for the spring and summer. 

The Spring is a great time to complete a 5 Important Household checkups:

2. Check UP:  Landscaping -  Time for pre-emergent on the lawn.  Avoid those persistent weeds and the nasty grams from your HOA.  Take a look at those beds and get ready for some spring color.  Clean out aged mulch and refresh the front of your house. 
    
3. Check UP: HVAC system – Change the filter, and consider having a reputable HVAC company come out and check your AC system so you know it’s ready to go when the temperature spikes.   You don’t want to discover a problem only after the temperatures are high.
    
4. Check UP: Gutters - Clear out gutters to make sure they are cleared of the “fall” of leaves that have accumulated this winter.  Your gutters will need to be ready for the spring storms that often roll through our area.  They can’t divert the water properly if they are clogged with debris. 
    
5. Check UP:  Fire Extinguishers - Make sure they are accessible and in good working order.  Review their proper use with your family.   Consider reviewing other fire safety plans with your family including evacuation plans.  Our local fire department suggests designating your mailbox as the family meeting place in case of any emergency.  It is usually far enough to be safely out of harm’s way and everyone knows where it is even under stress.
