INSULATION REMOVAL NORTHEAST LOUISIANA
When it comes to insulation installation, not all jobs are created equal. If your existing insulation is in good shape, removal may not be necessary, and we can install the new right on top of it.
In other cases, though, you may have to remove the old before you bring in the new. Reasons for removal can include:
- Moiusture Damage
- Pest Contamination
- Diminishing Efficiency
- Toxic Materials
Slow, minor leaks, severe weather, excessive or extreme temperatures, and intense humidity will cause most insulation to degrade over time. Damp fiberglass insulation is the ideal breeding ground for mold and mildew, and wet insulation can eventually result in structural problems. Additionally, moisture can cause cellulose to lose its pest- and fire-resistant qualities.
Rodents, birds, and insects that find their way into your attic, crawlspace, or walls may find your insulation to be quite cozy and thus decide to move in. Permanently. This means that they begin the life cycle of multiplying and dying, and adding their waste to your insulation all along… and that means chronic exposure to pest feces and urine, which can result in health problems for the building’s human residents.
While all insulations have decades-long lifespans, time marches on and everyday happenings can result in lower efficiency. Blown-in insulation eventually settles, and due to its very nature, or can be shifted by tradespeople, pests, and residents. Batt, though less likely to compress, ages with the structure and, if it’s particularly old, lacks the R-value that today’s new insulations offer.
Homes built in the mid-1900s may contain asbestos, which is a known carcinogen. Due to asbestos’ toxic nature, homeowners and untrained tradespeople should not attempt to remove it themselves. If we suspect that you have asbestos in your home or business, we’ll take the time to test it. While our everyday removal precautions are strong, those we use with asbestos are stronger, as we work to ensure the safety of both our customers and our employees.
The removal process itself begins with clearing the area of contaminants. The next step is the actual removal itself, followed by sanitizing and deodorizing the area completely. The insulation that we remove is then disposed of in the most eco-friendly manner possible, depending on the area in which you live.
