Is blown-in insulation a good option for me?

When it comes to blown-in insulation, you have two choices: loose fill or dense pack.  While they are made the same -- both consist of small pieces of insulation -- they have different properties that you will want to consider.

Loose-fill blown-in insulation can be made from cellulose, fiberglass, mineral wool, and even denim -- though the most common materials today are cellulose and fiberglass.  Given its design and the method of installation, this type of insulation can, quite literally, fill every nook and cranny of a space and create an uber-fluffy layer of effective insulation.

Equally effective is dense-pack blown-in insulation, which, like loose-fill, is blown into the space.  Like loose fill, dense-pack insulation can fill each and every space, insuring an effective barrier against heat loss.
The difference, though, is where you use each type.

Generally, loose fill can be found in attics and is used to retrofit existing properties, while dense pack is used not only in attics but also in walls and cathedral ceilings.

When we install blown-in insulation, whether it is loose or dense, our technicians are trained to ensure that the wall and ceiling cavities are filled correctly and without gaps or voids.
