Koala Insulation of The Gulf Coast is your local insulation contractor providing a variety of services - insulation installation, insulation removal and insulation testing. Read on to find out how these services may benefit you.

INSULATION INSTALLATION

When it comes to choosing an insulation, we provide you with a number of options, such as blown-in, spray foam, and batt. When you meet with one of our representatives, you will have the opportunity to determine which type best meets your needs.

On the day we arrive to install your new insulation, our trained technicians will, if needed, remove the old insulation and prep the area, install your new insulation, and then responsibly dispose of all waste. To learn more about removal and installation, click here.

SEALING

Whether you choose batt, blown-in, or spray foam, it all comes down to R-value. In technical terms, R-value is all about thermal resistance. Simply put, it’s the ability of an insulation to prevent heat transfer.

But no matter how effective the insulation itself is, if there are spots where air flows past it, the overall impact is lessened. These spots can include recessed lighting, chimney shafts, rim joists, or attic access points.

Koala Insulation’s technicians will look for and test for those problem areas and seal them properly.

REMOVAL

According to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, most insulations can last over 80 years or longer. But even the best materials will need to be replaced at some point.

While age in general can and will degrade insulation, other reasons include weather; mold; the remains, droppings, or urine of rodents, birds, or other such pests; the natural processes of setting and compression; and water damage from leaks.

When the time comes to replace the old and bring in the new, removal may become a question. Koala’s answer? We offer insulation removal as either part of the installation or as a service all on its own, though depending on the job removal may not always be required. Regardless of the scope of the job, our approach to removal is always thorough -- we not only remove the insulation, but we also sanitize and deodorize the area to prepare it for the new insulation. The old insulation is then disposed of in the most ecologically friendly manner available.

TESTING

One of the first steps in the evaluation process is to determine how much of a building’s airflow control is compromised. Results in hand, we’ll then look at what we need to do to bring the building up to either standard efficiency or high efficiency, such as in a “net zero” house.

We offer various levels of testing that can meet our customers’ needs, from quick and easy to comprehensive. With the latter, we have a starting point to calculate the insulation upgrade’s payback time.

We use thermographic imaging to determine how much air is leaking in, and out, of a building, and to identify “hot” and “cold” spots.
