Restaurant to Gallery Renovation

After a prominent restaurant closed in the Riverbend in 2018, it is finally time for the location to return to its magical state. Right off the river on Dante Street, there will be a new art gallery that will take the place of the once popular restaurant.

New Orleans is known for its historical homes and buildings, but after so many years, it’s important that some of these homes are restored. Koala helped our client with removing old insulation that had been there for well over twenty years, and after this was done we applied spray foam throughout the exterior walls and along the roof line. 

It’s important that you have insulation replaced or retrofitted in your home every 15-20 years because it may be hazardous for you or your family to inhale. In New Orleans it is very common for many of these old homes to not be up to date on their insulation. After all of the hurricanes that have affected our area, it is important to make sure that your home doesn’t have any wet and saturated insulation. Proper insulation in a home provides a comfortable, cool environment in this hot and humid climate. 

In the case of the gallery, it is very important that they properly insulate the building in order to protect the artwork from the New Orleans climate that is known to be a hotspot for growing mold or moisture, which could wreak havoc on precious artwork.

So many projects that we do at Koala highlight the importance of preserving architecture in the city.  This is another example of a great construction project that will give renewed life to an old New Orleans building with a ton of character and history.
