Spray Foam & Fiberglass Insulation for a Home Addition in Woodbridge Township, NJ

Central Jersey > Blog > Spray Foam & Fiberglass Insulation for a Home Addition in Woodbridge Township, NJ

We had a job in Woodbridge Township where the homeowner needed insulation work in a few different areas of the house.

They were working on a home addition, and the first floor needed some attention too.

This wasn’t a project where we could use one type of insulation everywhere.

The roof and walls of the addition needed closed-cell spray foam. Other areas called for fiberglass, and some of the exterior walls needed a combination of both.

Our crew at Koala Insulation of Central Jersey handled the installation.

We Started With the Home Addition

When you’re adding space to a house, insulation is something you want to get right before everything gets closed up.

Once drywall goes in, going back to fix insulation problems becomes a much bigger job.

For this Woodbridge Township project, we installed closed-cell spray foam insulation along the roof and walls of the addition.

Closed-cell foam is useful because it insulates and helps seal gaps at the same time.

It expands when applied and forms a layer against the surfaces we’re insulating.

That helps reduce air movement through the insulated areas.

And with New Jersey winters, keeping cold air from finding its way into the house is something homeowners appreciate.

The First Floor Needed Insulation Too

The addition wasn’t the only part of this project.

We also installed fiberglass insulation in the first-floor ceiling.

Fiberglass is something we use quite a bit, especially in areas where traditional insulation fits the construction.

We wanted to make sure those spaces had the insulation coverage they needed.

The exterior walls were another part of the job.

For those areas, we used a combination of spray foam and fiberglass insulation.

That allowed us to address air leakage while also adding insulation to the wall cavities.

Different materials, but they were all part of the same project.

We Also Installed Ventilation Baffles

Another detail on this job was installing ventilation baffles where needed.

Those are important in roof areas that require ventilation.

You don’t want insulation blocking the airflow that’s supposed to move through those spaces.

Baffles help maintain that ventilation path.

It’s one of those things that doesn’t get much attention once the project is finished because it’s hidden behind the construction.

But it’s worth getting right while everything is still accessible.

The Crew Made Sure to Clean Up

We also received a short review from the homeowner after the job.

“Great job. No mess left behind.”

We like hearing that.

Insulation installation can get messy if you’re not paying attention.

There’s equipment, materials and plenty of work happening in different areas of the house.

And when you’re working on somebody’s home, leaving everything cleaned up is part of the job.

Our crew made sure the work area was free of leftover materials before wrapping things up.

Insulating More Than Just the Attic

This Woodbridge Township project covered several areas of the house.

We installed closed-cell spray foam along the roof and walls of the addition, fiberglass in the first-floor ceiling, and a combination of foam and fiberglass in the exterior walls.

We also installed ventilation baffles where needed.

The work was intended to help reduce unwanted air movement and improve the insulation throughout those areas.

And the homeowner was happy with the work and cleanup.

If you’re building an addition or have areas of your home that need better insulation, we’d be happy to come take a look.
