Blown-In Attic Insulation, Spray Foam & Air Sealing in Ocean Township, NJ
We had a job in Ocean Township where the homeowner wanted to improve their attic insulation and ventilation.
There were several things that needed attention, so this wasn’t going to be a job where we just added more insulation and called it a day.
The attic needed better insulation coverage, some air leaks needed sealing, and there were a few other areas around the attic and garage that needed work.
Ready to start your insulation project?
Our crew at Koala Insulation of Central Jersey took care of the upgrades.
We Started With the Attic Insulation
The homeowner wanted a house that would stay more comfortable without wasting so much energy.
And the attic is a good place to start looking.
When you don’t have enough insulation overhead, heat can move through the ceiling more easily. That means your heating and cooling system has more work to do.
We installed blown-in fiberglass insulation to improve the coverage throughout the attic.
Blown-in fiberglass works well for getting around framing and into areas where fitting traditional batts can be difficult.
But adding insulation was only part of this project.
There Were Air Leaks That Needed Attention Too
We also handled the air sealing.
There were openings around pipes, the chimney and other attic penetrations that needed to be sealed.
These are some of the areas we pay attention to because air can move between the living space and attic through gaps around the framing and penetrations.
And you don’t want to spend money adding insulation while leaving those openings unaddressed.
Our crew sealed the accessible gaps to help reduce unwanted air movement.
We also insulated the attic access.
That’s one of those spots homeowners don’t always think about. But if the attic hatch isn’t properly insulated, it can become a weak point even after the rest of the attic has been upgraded.
Spray Foam for the Attic Walls and Garage Areas
This job also included spray foam insulation.
We applied it to the attic walls and areas above the garage.
Different parts of a house sometimes call for different insulation products.
Spray foam can be useful where we need insulation that also helps seal air leaks.
For this Ocean Township home, it was part of getting better coverage in the areas that needed attention.
We weren’t trying to use the same insulation everywhere.
We used blown-in fiberglass in the attic and spray foam in the designated wall and garage areas.
We Didn’t Forget About Ventilation
Another part of this project was improving attic ventilation.
Insulation and ventilation both matter, but they do different jobs.
Insulation helps slow heat transfer between the attic and the living space.
Ventilation helps manage airflow through the attic.
You don’t want to improve one while creating a problem with the other.
We also insulated the bathroom fan ducts as part of the work.
Those ducts need to carry moisture from the bathrooms to the outside, and insulating them can help reduce condensation concerns when warm, humid air moves through a colder attic.
It’s one more detail worth taking care of while we’re already up there.
The Homeowner Appreciated How We Handled the Job
After everything was finished, the homeowner left us a great review.
“Amazing experience front to back! The work was completed on time, and the crew went above and beyond to ensure our home stayed clean during the process. Highly recommend”
We always appreciate hearing that.
Insulation work can involve moving equipment and materials through a home, and nobody wants a mess left behind.
Our crew works hard to keep things organized and clean up when the job is finished.
It’s nice when homeowners notice those things.
A More Complete Attic Upgrade in Ocean Township
This was one of those projects where several smaller improvements were part of the bigger job.
We added blown-in fiberglass, installed spray foam in the attic wall and garage areas, sealed air leaks, improved ventilation, insulated the attic access and took care of the bathroom fan ducts.
All of those improvements were intended to help the home hold its temperature better and reduce unnecessary energy loss.
And the homeowner was happy with both the work and how our crew handled the project.
If your attic insulation hasn’t been checked in years, or you’re dealing with drafts and uncomfortable rooms, we’d be happy to take a look.
