Blown In Attic Insulation, Myakka City FL
Hurricane Damage Left This Attic Working Against the House
This one came to us from a referral. Those are always nice because someone has already trusted us enough to recommend our name. When we met Brad at his home in Myakka City, he knew the attic needed attention. He just wasn’t sure how much.
The hurricanes had done more damage than he realized. Once we got up into the attic, it started making sense.
Over the years, storms had taken their toll. A lot of the soffits had been lost during hurricanes, and with them went some of the attic ventilation. The insulation had settled too, leaving the attic below today’s recommended levels. Nothing looked dramatic from inside the house. But up in the attic, you could see why the home wasn’t performing the way it should. We put everything back the way it needed to be. The job wasn’t just adding insulation.
Our crew:
- Blew in new fiberglass insulation to bring the attic up to code.
- Cleaned the soffits.
- Replaced the damaged soffit baffles.
- Made sure the attic had the ventilation it needed to work with the new insulation.
Sometimes people focus only on insulation. Ventilation is just as important. The two have to work together. The homeowner noticed the difference pretty quickly. One thing Brad mentioned after everything was finished surprised him. His ceiling temperature dropped by about three degrees, and the hot spots he’d been dealing with around the house were gone. That’s not something we promise on every job because every house is different. But in this case, getting the insulation and ventilation working together made a noticeable difference. This review made our day. After the project was finished, Brad left us this review:
“Great price. Tyler and Justin were great, professional and worked hard adding insulation to our attic, cleaned the soffits and replaced the soffit baffles; this dropped the ceiling temp by about 3 degrees and no more hot spots; we lost a lot of soffits and insulation from hurricanes, never knew Lowe’s offered this service with Koala Insulation, very happy with everything.”
I especially liked that he mentioned Tyler and Justin by name. Our crews work hard, and it’s always good seeing them get recognized. If your home has been through a few Florida hurricane seasons, it may be worth taking a look in the attic. Storm damage doesn’t always mean roof damage. Sometimes it’s the insulation and ventilation that quietly take the hit.
